CBNNews.com - A painful nerve disorder is among the latest complications linked to tongue piercing.
The pain is so bad, according to some, that it's called the "suicide disease."
The Journal of the American Medical Association documented the latest the health risks associated with tongue piercing this week. Some of the the risks life-threatening.
Other problems include tetanus, heart infections, brain abscess, chipped teeth and receding gums. One woman developed so much scar tissue that it resembled what she called a "second tongue."
An italian girl featured in the report says the pain in her face felt like electrical shocks that struck 20 to 30 times a day. Painkillers didn't work.
The only thing that did: removing the metal stud from her tongue.
Her recommendation to anyone considering piercing their tongue: don't do it.
